2025 is going to be a great year, y’all.
So many literary projects, and so little time. I’m excited to share each and every one with you all.
1. In December 2024, I partnered with Mount Titano Media, Allison Ellis, and Tracy Lee Simmons to proofread their first collaborative book— Finding Our Words: Words that Made America.
I wasn’t looking for a proofreading job, and yet this unique project providentially landed in my lap. I’d written an article about my crippling fear of typos, and Allison Ellis heard about it and came to me with a proposal I couldn’t pass up.
I spent three-ish weeks buried in some of the most beautiful and timeless words that helped to build America. I lived inside the minds of Washington, Robert E. Lee, Kennedy, and Reagan—to name just a few.
Some of the speeches were familiar (Lincoln’s “Gettysburg Address”) and some were entirely new (Frederick Douglass’s “What to a Slave is the Fourth of July?”).
This project was a true delight and an honor.
2. In January, I recorded a promotional podcast for my first book, Past Watchful Dragons, which will be released later this year!
Word on Fire Votive podcast invited me to promote my new book, discussing the ins and outs of my first book. I had more fun than should be allowed, and I got to see a real copy of my book (!!!) through a video camera.
I’m still a giddy mess.
3. Mount Titano has kindly asked me to continue working with them on another book, Heroines of History.
This is still a loose proposal, but if hired, I cannot wait to dive into the final proofread of this new project. (Pre-order here)
4. Self Publishing my first adult novel. (Coming Summer 2025)
I’ve kept this project under wraps for a while now. This novel was a true labor of love, and it’s time to (finally) get this story into the world.
I cannot wait. Also, I want to throw up a little.
Why am I choosing to self-publishing? I wanted total control of this project, from start to finish. I’ve learn so much about the publishing world from this one endeavor, and it’s been an eye-opening experience.
That’s all, for now, folks.
This year will be a wild ride. Thanks for coming along.
